Las Vegas Fun Run and Drive
April 15, 2016 @ 2:00 am - April 17, 2016 @ 10:00 am
The Porsche Club of America, Arizona Region will be holding its annual Vegas Fun Run this year with some exciting events for those that like to drive their Porsches, see an outstanding car collection, including a 356 with two miles, and party at a relocated Scottish Bar.
We will meet on Friday, April 15 at The Good Egg on Carefree Highway and I-17, at 9 AM. After a drivers’ briefing at 9:45 AM, we will leave promptly at 10 AM, arriving in Las Vegas that afternoon.
The recommended hotel is The M Resort/Spa/Casino Hotel approximately 10 miles south of the Las Vegas strip. The Las Vegas Region recommended this resort hotel, and while it is off the strip, it offers convenient access to all of the weekend’s events. Currently rooms are available for $125/night with NO resort fee (TO GET THIS RATE CLICK ON THE FOLLOWING LINK TO GO TO THE M’s WEBSITE FOR THE LUCKY 7 ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL: http://www.themresort.com/accomodations/hotel-room-specials.html).
Friday night we will gather for an early cocktail party at The M.
Saturday morning, in conjunction with the Las Vegas Region, we will have what promises to be a spirited drive to Overton, NV through the Lake Mead National Recreation Area with lunch in Overton.
After a leisurely drive back to Las Vegas, the final event will be a BBQ dinner and visit to the car collection at the home of Gary Ackerman (see below), the Dealer Principal at Gaudin Porsche in Las Vegas. In addition to the cars, an entire Scottish bar, moved from Scotland will be the centerpiece of the BBQ and social. Gary and Gaudin Porsche are sponsoring this event.

Description from Paul Jarret of the Ackerman car collection —
The 18,000 square foot warehouse turned automotive fantasyland houses the private collection of Gaudin Motor Company Owner, Gary Ackerman, and his wife Debra. Being a third generation Ford dealer, his passion for the brand is certainly obvious from the original full-size billboards from the 1950s and 60s to the first and last Shelby GT-350 wide-body ever built, but Ford is not the only focus. The collection also includes a 1933 Packard Super Eight, 1937 Rolls Royce Boat Tail, and 1964 Porsche 901/911, one of 232 ever built, just to name a few. Ackerman’s love of the German auto-maker is quite evident as his Porsche collection now tops fifteen, including a 1954 tractor and at least one model from every decade beginning in the 1950s.
Although more than 75 cars and related memorabilia consume nearly every inch of this automotive wonderland, the epicenter of the building is the bar. A hand-carved, Northern European masterpiece from the early 1900s. The Hunter’s Pub, as its inscription states, was shipped in 11 pieces, to its new home at Pub D&G.
