ARIZONA REGION PCA DRIVER’S EDUCATION FAQ

Our Driver’s Education events are casual and built around first-timers. You will only go as fast as you are comfortable with. We run four groups ("run groups"): student, novice, intermediate and advanced. You will be assigned an instructor, if requested on the registration page. First time drivers will get a senior instructor. Drivers need an instructor’s sign-off to drive solo. Experienced group drivers usually have 6 events under their belt and/or a race school. Advanced group is with Competition Chairman or Chief Driving Instructors approval only.

We rotate through the day in 20 min. sessions with a one hour lunch break. A twenty minute session is a long time for most drivers. We typically have 4-5 sessions per run group. This is a zero contact track event and reckless drivers will be asked to leave. This is the safest track in town and the AZPCA has a great safety record. Short of Bondurant, we also have some of the finest driving instructors in Arizona.

All cars must have a tech inspection prior participating in a DE event. The tech form is available on the “Driver’s Ed” page and on the “Members > Libaray & Info” page of our region website. The inspection needs to be done in advance and we do a final inspection the day of event, at the track. You only need to have tech form filled out once per race season. Any Independent Porsche® Service Provider in Phoenix can provide this tech inspection for a nominal fee. A list of local service providers is available on the “Events > Driver’s Ed” page of our region website. All of the shops also have advertisements in our region newsletter, Going Places.

Note regarding convertibles and cabriolets: All convertibles and cabriolets without factory roll-bar protection must have roll-bars installed. This is a PCA national rule. 914's, Boxster's, 996 and 997 Cab's (911 Cab's from 1999-2006) are OK with factory protection. All roofs must be up or on.
